|
The first lecture of the New Year organised by the Beara Historical Society will be at Toomey’s Lounge Bar on Monday next 7th February. Dorothy Brophy will speak on "The Sinking of the RMS Leinster in 1918". This sinking of the mail boat by German torpedo during the First World War was the greatest single loss of life in the Irish Sea with over 500 lost. It is a subject close to Dorothy's heart as her own grandfather was one of those who perished.
